Hierarchical variable text

This is a rough illustration that shows a navigation bar method that would be suitable for a hierarchical site.
The basic principles are:
1 2 3
Links are displayed at the top of the screen. The path so far is shown on the left of a colon. Mimicking the now accepted convenion for file paths. The further deeper links shown to the right of the colon.
I've used text in standard anchors but images could be used if they were clear. No need to use actual file names/paths. Split using the fairly common vertical bar convention.

The neat way that top-of-screen navigation bars work can be seen on my Guru of the Marshes page. Experiment with using the links to see how it works.
Back to navigation ideas

The main page of FooCorp might have a navigation bar shown like:

FooCorp : Welcome|People|Product directory|Notices|Feedback
(Everything not in bold would be a link.)

Picking Notices...

FooCorp / Notices : Social|Health & Safety|Joiners & Leavers
Taking taking Social...

FooCorp / Notices / Social : Events|Messages|Market place
Back to Notices...

FooCorp / Notices : Social|Health & Safety|Joiners & Leavers
Taking Health & Safety...

FooCorp / Notices / Health & Safety : Quick|Clothing|Training|Procedures|Contacts
Taking Clothing...

FooCorp / Notices / Health & Safety / Clothing : Hats|Shoes|Clothes
Lets assume that Clothing is a single document. Here we can have the three sections permanently available. Jump to hats...

FooCorp / Notices / Health & Safety / Clothing:Hats|Shoes|Clothes
Jump to Shoes...

FooCorp / Notices / Health & Safety / Clothing:Hats|Shoes|Clothes
Jump to Clothes...

FooCorp / Notices / Health & Safety / Clothing:Hats|Shoes|Clothes

Here is what the above would look like if the links were put in place with the A HREF tag.

FooCorp / Notices / Health & Safety / Clothing : Hats | Shoes |Clothes
