Extra features
Extra add-ons
Extras are features that can be added onto BFM in a mix-n-match sort of way.
See the BFM website here for a list.
This documentation may include extras that have not been installed on your system.
All these functions are accessed via the Extra menu item on the main screen.
Clear read-only flag
Purpose
The Read-only flag is a marker put onto a file to stop it being changed
or deleted. Sometimes this is a good thing. However sometimes you may find files, especially
those copied from a CD or DVD to be marked read-only when you do want to delete or change them.

To tell if a file is read-only switch on the file listing display settings by going to
Settings, then the
File listing tab then ticking
Show read-only alert
Use
- Select one or more files on the main screen.
Hold Ctrl and press
A to select all
- Pick Extra then Clear read-only flags from the menu.
There may be cases where a file physically cannot be changed. For example if it
is on A CD or DVD which is a Read-only medium
Restore tutorial files
Purpose
There might be a time when it would be nice to return to the tutorial with the files as they are
set up for that purpose on initial installation.
It is possible to delete existing data held in the STORE and SHELVES. Obviously this
could be very damaging. Take care!
Use
- Pick Extra then Clear read-only flags from the menu.
- Read the screen carefully then click Continue
- You will probably get a sequence of questions asking whether you want to erase and start from scratch
or add-in tutorial files without any deleting of existing data.
Think carefully as once files have been deleted they are lost for ever!
- You have another opportunity to quit is when the Finish button appears at the bottom.
Click to continue.
- You may get a warning message if there are any read-only files in the store. These will not be deleted
and neither will the directories (containers) in which they live. However the process will continue.
- At the end the screen shows a list of what happened. Click Quit
